Reporting to the Senior Brand Communications Manager, this role will support on the delivery of the Sainsbury’s external brand communications strategy, which will be designed to ensure that all Group communications ladder up to a single brand proposition, supporting Live Well for Less.

The Brand team will work closely with other members of the External Communications teams as well as teams in Marketing to ensure all brand communications are aligned. This role will also include some corporate responsibility communications, including communicating around our values and sustainability– with Live Well for Less as the unifying proposition across all communications initiatives.

What you need to do
· Work with the Senior Brand Communications Manager to implement communications that comprise the Live Well for Less agenda, including but not limited to: seasonal campaigns, sustainability, diversity and inclusion, health and loyalty through Nectar.
· As well as these planned activities, the role will need to proactively seek opportunities to drive our position around helping our customers live well for less, as well as working closely with other external communications teams and PR agencies to ensure a clear and consistent narrative across all our external communications.
· As external communications will be aligned across different departments, you will need to develop strong relationships with relevant contacts in Marketing, CR, Internal Communications and Customer Careline
· You will be required to take the lead on specific projects relating to the Brand Strategy, as directed by the Senior Brand Communications Manager
· Understand and implement digital / social media communications across the projects you are working on
· Generate and maintain excellent media relations with core contacts and beyond
·  Provide out of hours PR support to the business at evenings and weekends on a rota basis
· On a weekday rota basis send the business news updates
·  Monitor issues related to your areas of the business and flag them as appropriate
· Support the Media Relations team in managing issues and incoming queries related to your areas of expertise in the business

What you need to know
· Solid corporate and consumer communications experience
· Sustainability communications experience
· Strong media contacts / ability to build strong relationships quickly
· Agency experience and understanding of agency business dynamics including fees and time management
· Ideally experience of working with retail brands

· Understanding of digital and social media and ability to implement in             campaigns as appropriate
